Just Right

Over the weekend, while Chris and his dad were madly hammering away on our remodeling project again (more to come on that later), I put the kiddos in the bathtub for a long overdue bath.  Both Matthew and Rose eagerly ran for the tub, stripping diapers as they went.  I put the drain-plug in and started the warm water.

Both kids eagerly played and filled their respective pitchers from the running faucet (yes, they both have their own water pitchers – we pick our battles and trying to teach them how to share in a bathtub full of water is not a battle we choose to fight if we wish to remain mostly dry).  After the tub was reasonably full, I reached over and turned the water off, but apparently the temperature of the water wasn’t quite right per Matthew’s taste – a la’ Goldilocks and the Three Bears.  It had to be JUST RIGHT.

With the water OFF…this is what Matthew did…

He reached up and turned the knob first to the right, then bent over swished his hand in the water.  “Nooooo,” he shakes his head.

Standing and turning the knob back to the left, (again, the water is STILL off and this mom is nearly busting a gut to keep from laughing out loud), Matthew again bends down, reaches into the water and shakes his head, “Noooooo.”

He stands again and just barely moves the knob back to the right yet again, reaches down and splashes the water with his hand, looks up at me, smiles, nods his head, and says, “Aaaaaahhhhhhh,” as he sits down in the tub.  Just Right.

All with the water turned OFF.
