Give Me Your Eyes

In all of my trials and challenges as well those that friends and loved ones have gone through, I have learned compassion – what not to say or do, what you should say or do.  You never know what a person is going through when you walk by them.  Did they just bury their spouse or child and are only managing by a thread to not fracture into a million pieces?  Are they running from the baby dedication service because they so long for a child of their own that it hurts to see other babies?  Is that new mom dying inside and smiling on the outside?  Is that man on the brink of ruin and worrying about his family?  Is that child living in an abusive home?  You never know, for everyone has a hurt and a story.  But pray to see with God’s eyes, to see opportunities to minister – from the smallest ways to the biggest.  A kind smile and a warm gesture goes miles to lift someone’s heart.

Yesterday as I was running various errands, every time I got in the car this song was playing, no less than three or four times.  It has been on my mind ever since, the words really working themselves into my heart.  It is “Give Me Your Eyes” by Brandon Heath.  I want it to be my prayer.  All too often I am doing what I can to get through my own day.  I pray to have His eyes and to see more.   Enjoy.

  1. I only read this one and listened to this song. I really enjoyed reading and hearing that. I feel the same way…. I always try to smile and be polite to strangers/people. I know it makes me feel good when people do the same for me when I’m down or worried. I guess it is the first step to show someone you care, give them a smile or kind word.
