Did You Know About…Belly Buttons, Mosquitos, and Tractor Wheels?

February 7th, 2009
  • Belly Buttons May Signal a Woman’s Vigor – A story on FoxNews recently.  Tell me you didn’t just look at your belly button.  :)
  • Bill Gates Unleashes Swarm of Mosquitos on Crowd – Another story from FoxNews.  He was speaking at TED 2009 Conference.  Talk about audience participation, not to mention a great way to get your point across.  I just might have to wander over to the TED website and find the video clip of that session.
  • 25 Things About Facebook Fads – Cute, but really – did it require an entire MSNBC.com article?  Clearly, the author himself was spending way too much time on Facebook to notice the trend, and said “trend” is nothing new.  Memes and and lists have been through email forwards and the blogging world for ages.  Get over it already, stop analyzing it, find something actually newsworthy to write about, and then have a little fun!
  • Having More Than 2 Kids Will Destory the Planet, Environmentalist Says – I am so appalled by this article that I do not even know where to begin.  I think I’d have to throw up first.  This guy’s words also seem to be a dangerous veil over approving euthanizing the sick and elderly.  I wonder if he would raise his hand first once he crosses that barrier?  Doubtful.  On the bright side, my God is way bigger than any influence this crackpot could ever have.
  • SuperBowl Ad NBC Rejected – Are we surprised?  Great ad, though.  You’ve all probably seen it, but just in case you hadn’t, I thought I’d post it anyways.  Here’s a Washington Times article about it as well.
  • ThePioneerWoman.com – Oh, be still my heart.  I am quite certain I am the very last person on the internet to find this amazing blog or two or three, but regardless, I’m listing it here anyhow because I am loving it.  I clicked on the love story link on the home page (Black Heels to Tractor Wheels – how can you not be drawn in by that title?) and was immediately drawn into her amazing love story with her husband – oh, my stars.  True life is way better than fiction.  She is an amazing writer!  If this story were on the shelf at the bookstore, I’d snatch it up.  I was totally ready to sell everything and buy a ranch with Chris, fit him with jeans and boots, but there’s the minor detail that his career is in technology and software.  Dang.  Anyhow, she also features photography and cooking…I’m not good at photography but love it, and I’m learning cooking.  See?  Be still my heart…
  • A Voice for Moms – I was also somehow led to this great blog this week.  She’s a Christian mom like me with her finger on the political pulse of this country.  I have enjoyed reading every single post.  Even if you are not a woman, or a mom, this is a great read for anyone.  Check it out.
