Randomness 46

  • I’m getting dangerous close to the Randomness 50 post…what shall I do to celebrate?  Be random?  Hehe…I crack myself up.  No, it really wasn’t funny, was it?  I know you love me anyways.  I get my sense of humor from my dad.
  • Let’s see, our food adventures lately have been plentiful and fun.  My first attempt at wheat bread was, well, forgotten.  Literally.  I left it in the oven to rise and forgot about for many hours.
  • The second attempt at the Honey Wheat Bread was quite yummy!  The only downside was that the bread stuck to the pans a good bit – I suppose I didn’t grease them enough?  Otherwise, they made great sandwiches – grilled cheese even!
  • Yesterday, I made soaked granola – basically, our own granola cereal?  Oh, yum!  It was quite easy and delicious – except for the little too much salt part.  It passed the G test.  He liked it.
  • What a multi-purpose food – snack, breakfast, yogurt topping – even the ingredients are flexible!  Feeling fruity?  Chunk some of those dried fruit bad boys in there!
  • The recipe I used was here - Soaked Granola.  Macie – you could probably make this there, you think?  Would you have all the ingredients?  Curious minds want to know…
  • I just watched last week’s episode of House, M.D. I’m sitting here analyzing it in my head (themes and everything!  I know!)  as if I were sitting in an English Lit or Drama class or something.  Yes, it was that traumatic – but enough to be analyzing the themes as if it were Shakespeare?  What is wrong with me??
  • My children are eating us out of house and home and they are not even teenagers yet.  The food budget is through the roof.  Where.  do.  they.  put.  it???  I can set a plate full of pancakes on the table (wheat, no less) and before I’m even done with my eggs and two pancakes, they have inhaled at least six.  Chris and I just sit there stunned, quite certain little pancakes bits are going to start oozing out their ears.
  • Lovely image.  You’re welcome.  You can go back to your breakfast now.
  • Pancakes, anyone?
  • I couldn’t resist.  :)
  • We visited a couple of farmer’s markets this past weekend as well as an arts market (one farmers market was within the arts market).  Very neat, I think.  I’m not sure what I expected.  I’m really not a forward kind of gal at market-type places so actually talking to someone about their fruits and vegetables feels a little disconcerting.  Tips, anyone?  How does this farmer’s market culture work?
  • G said today, “Don’t be silly, Mom, just sing.”  Ok, I’ll work on that.  :)   I much prefer the silly part though.  Really.
  • So, confession time, just how silly do you get behind closed doors when only your small children are watching?

  1. Silly? Lets just say that my daughter has learned how to “walk like an egyptian”. Thats how silly we are!

  2. lets just say i could spend HOURS interpreting shows…whedon is particularly fascinating. nothing is wrong with you. :)

    love homemade granola…so yummy

  3. Well, I don’t know if this is super-silly or not, but it is pretty typical for our house. This morning before work, we had a game of rock-paper-scissors-boulder-giant alien-moose-pizza-giant mouse.

I only play this game with my kids, but that’s because they’re the only ones that know the rules. I still have no idea what moose beats. Certainly not giant alien.

  4. I am of the mind that if I am inspired I go for it, in public or in private (of course within reason…sheesh, DON’T go there!)

I play peek-a-boo with Abby when she is in her car seat and I am running around the car ducked down like a really bad superagent, popping up and making stupid “rawr” sounds.

I will break out into 80′s dance moves with little or no provocation, especially if I am in the mood to make people laugh.

when I am at the zoo…you guessed it. I can’t help it. I really can’t. Bob and Kevin run away and pretend they can’t see me, don’t know me…wha, Who?

I turn into steve erwin. I love to say “crikey”. And “that little fella there”. I am pretty good at improv but my accent is atrocious. I think that is why I end up laughing myself silly. All by myself. While people give me “get to the looney bin” looks.

I am green over your bread. You are inspiring. My oven is fixed now so I may have to give the homemade bread thing a go.

Randomness 50 idea: set your alarm for the 50th minute of each hour and then blog your activity/thought/whatever each hour for your day.
