- Where do I begin?
- We have a visiting-most-likely-going-to-be-permanent Golden Retriever. I’ll post on him separately. He is wonderful. Male, 2 years old.
- And he doesn’t even think about biting! He is amazingly gentle. Wow.
- Becky and her boys are visiting this weekend! They arrived today. What plans do we have? Zoo? Beach? We’ll see!
- I just tried to make homemade chocolate syrup and I forgot about it on the stove and I think I let it boil too long. I put the syrup into my milk and I instantly got a hard ball of chocolate.
- Bigkat? The science on this one?
- I let it boil too long because I was concentrating on giving our previous hosting company a piece of my mind.
- They asked why I wanted to cancel our account, so I was kindly telling them exactly why.
- I’m blaming the chocolate syrup fiasco and my lack of chocolate milk satisfaction right now on them.
- Yes, it makes me feel better.
- Chris’s tomato plants look fabulous!!! Made mine look like miniatures until they died. I’m so impressed with my man!
- I tried something called “felting” when I was at Leslie’s last week. Wow, what a way to take out your frustrations. Nothing makes you feel better quite like sticking a big needle repeatedly into a ball of wool. Wait, is that what it was? Leslie?
- Mine started out as a ball and ended up as an apple.
- I meant it that way. Yea. Sure.
- I got to see my nieces and take care of my baby nephew earlier this week. What a growing, sweet boy!
- Taking care of him at night was quite an adventure. He and I didn’t quite see eye to eye on which bottles he preferred.
- I also realized I could never be one of those women who had many, many, many kids.
- Those couple of interrupted-sleep nights were brutal.
- How do they do it with many newborns?? Over and over and over and over… How??
- Speaking of sleep…
- Goodnight!
T~
I’m so glad the puppy is working out
And, glad you liked felting. I will give you a needle (or two–I keep breaking them) and some felt next time I see you. Have fun with your company! It’s beautiful weather for visiting~
It’s a basic candy making thing. The longer you boil your syrup, the more water comes out. So the softer you want it, the less you boil it. If you want something like peanut brittle, then you cook more water out of it.
And with chocolate syrup, that’s one that you just need to pay attention to. You can’t go off giving people pieces of your mind. Make sure your syrup is good, then go yell at people, not the other way around.
There’s actually a stage called ‘hard ball’ (around 260). What that means is that if you drop your syrup into cold water, you end up with a hard ball. Sounds like you got it at least to that point.
Fun to hear what’s going on with you!! Miss you and love you, friend!
i am so excited about the puppers! yay!!!
felting is a sport close to knitting. i mean its in the same arena…fiber art is a wonderfully dangerous world. yay! i am excited that you enjoy it!
huh.
I mean, seriously, how can I ever compete with, homemade-not-syrup (chocolate of course), apple-ish felting balls, murdered tomato plants and maybe-maybe not beach and zoo plans?
I was gonna blog about Ruth. woop-de-doo. Now I need to go try and make something from scratch and make it blow up. Thanks a lot!
