  • Derby Day was this past weekend for all you horse-racing fans.  Being a Kentucky girl, I still think it’s mighty strange that the rest of the world doesn’t stop for Derby Day the way that Kentucky does.  What’s wrong with these people?
  • I’m suddenly craving Derby Pie, aka Kentucky pie.
  • Chris and I will be celebrating a ten-year wedding anniversary this month.
  • He’ll tell you it’s been ten looooooooooooooooooooooong years.
  • Don’t listen to him.
  • In ten years, we’ve had 2 children, 4 dogs, 2 fish; lost 4 loved ones, 1 beloved dog; surrendered 2 dogs (one due to aggression, one because he needed more attention than we could provide at the time); moved 4 times; owned 3 cars; gained too many friends to count; loved lots; laughed lots; cried lots (yea, that was mostly me).
  • Looking forward the next ten, and the next ten.  But after that, I really hope I’m in Heaven with Jesus.  I’ll be too old to enjoy myself too much here on Earth.
  • But Heaven?  Oh, yea, it’s going to ROCK.
  • I finished The Godfather series last night – all three movies.  I feel…bleh.  How tragic!  The first movie was a great movie.  As the family saga continued, tragic…just tragic.  From a Christian worldview, you can easily analyze it from the standpoint that the wages of sin are death, death of all kinds – relationships, physical, etc.
  • Yes, I cried at the end.  So…sad!
  • But overall, just tragic.  I could analyze it a hundred different ways but it would boggle my mind and this mommy-brain needs all the cells she can get.
  • I’ve been reading about Compassion International‘s recent blogger’s trip to India.  I’ve been a mess of tears reading each post.  Unbelievable.
  • I am continually impressed by this organization.  Continually.
  • The kids have been playing in the kiddie pool on the back deck lately.  I even moved the toddler slide into the pool so they climb out of the pool climb up and slide into it.  They love it!
  • I also was further convinced I have kamikaze children.
  • They slid into the pool and water when it was still only millimeters deep.
  • The word “fear” is not in their vocabulary.
  • I really  need to blog more, both on this blog and on the Out of the Valley blog.  I get so tired at the end of the day and my brain freezes on what to blog about!
  • Do you get in blogging “funks” often?
