a three-word phrase divided into thirds and then expounded upon. . .
Made From Scratch
This is a fun one for me. The phrase as a whole brings so much to mind: work, health, satisfaction, deliciousness and meals. I have been cooking almost everything from scratch lately for health reasons and my and our health is benefitting so much. I get tremendous satisfaction from this. Yes, it is work but it is so incredibly worth it. The results are so delicious that I find myself turning into a bit of a food snob -the store-bought stuff just does not cut it.
Homemade ketchup? Yes, I make that. Yum! Homemade Ranch and Italian dressing? Check and check. Delicious! Bread? You already know the answer to that. The mayo I have not mastered yet but my life is just fine without it right now.
All that to say, I love the phrase “made from scratch” as a whole right now. So how about we separate the words?
Made
Made, maid…yup, I could use a maid right about now.
Maid, made…
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well. -Psalm 139:13-14
I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Love that.

One of the basic questions people ask each other when they meet is, “Where are you from?” We look for identity, a conversation starter, a point of commonality, and to genuinely inquire as to what makes up a person. I find that my answer has multiple parts, “Well, I grew up in ____, then moved to ____ where I met my husband, and we’ve been living here for the past ____ years, ever since.” To make the answer even longer, I could tell you that I am not a native of that state I call home. ”I was actually born in ____ and lived in ____ until I was in elementary school.” That’s a big answer for “Where are you from?” isn’t it? I always wondered how easy it must be to answer for people who are born, raised and still live in the same place.

I hate bug bites. The end.
If you want to participate in Wild Olive Shoot’s Thursday Threesome, head on over! It’s a lot of fun!
I love this one too– funny, I was going to put in “Fearfully and wonderfully made” too. Guess now I’ll have to hunt for another appropriate Bible verse (of which there is never a shortage–praise the Lord!)
See ya Monday!

Oh fun. I gotta do this.
I remembered to do it this week!
This was great! I love the way you build and build and build the depth of your post until the amazing concluding line….
BUG BITES! Brilliant!
You crack me up!
I love Psalm 139. When we were unsure if Abby has a chromosomal abnormality (due to a false-positive reading on a prenatal test) I prayed this verse over her so much, but I think it was more for me to remember that God never makes mistakes, that he is with each of us from the moment he concieved the thought of us, and that He is much stronger than any fear or uncertainty we will ever have. Thankfully, it WAS a false positive result and Abby is a crazy normal kid, but I sure did grow in my relationship with God through those verses and that time.
Thanks for inspiring me to do this…it was so much fun!
