Experimenting

January 7th, 2009

What do you think?

This is what I did playing with my Photoshop Elements program.  (Nope, not Photoshop in all its glory, but a smaller version for those of us still learning.  I bought it as a package deal about a year ago with Premiere Elements to make family DVD’s.)

(We won’t mention that I am still working on the DVD’s for 2006…2007…and 2008…)

Anyhow, I am playing with the image header and other ideas, then will pick a basic template, and dress it up, I guess?

*I think for some of you, this image may get distorted and squish the pics.  Sorry!  Pretend its ok.

Making My Blog Me

January 7th, 2009

I need a blog design.  If you’ve visited recently and noticed that I’m changing blog templates like I change outfits before a social event, then you’ve noticed my lack of satisfaction with my blog design.  My dilemma is that in my brief search for Wordpress designers, I found that they were not exactly in my budget.

Sooooo…

Do I become a do-it-yourself-er?  (Is that the proper way to hyphenate that?)

I think I might attempt it.  I know enough to make a two-column blog into a one-column blog by altering the style sheets.  I can edit this or that and change what I need to and teach myself the code in the process.  I have an idea in my head, but getting it out there is another story altogether.

It may take me awhile, but I am going to try.  Bear with me and my ever-changing blog designs until I found something that is just right.

Just like that proverbial perfect black dress.

G&G Blog Stuff, Going Nowhere

FYI

June 30th, 2008

Previously, I have referred to my children as Matthew and Rose to provide some semblance of security on a public blog.  Embarrassingly, I nearly called them by those names the other day…oh, yes…I rolled my eyes at myself.  So I am going to change my security tactic to using their first initials.  Less confusion for a mom who loses brain cells daily and less confusion for you, my faithful readers who I’m sure were quite certain you were at the wrong blog.  My son will now be “G” and my daughter “S”.  Enjoy!

Cleverness or Dorkiness?

June 14th, 2008

So whatcha think?  I’ve been wanting to change the blog design for some time now, but it took a good bit of googling to find one I liked and required minimal work on my part to switch the widgets over easily.  Fortunately, that search resulted in having several neat designs ready to go when the mood strikes me!  Yea!  I really like this one so it might stay for awhile.  Its quite bright and cheery, huh?  In addition, one can never go wrong with butterflies and yellow roses.

Are you ready for THIS?  You will either call this clever or dorky, and I’m ok with that.  In fact, if you have any inspiration to send my way to improve this list, please do!  Follow my thinking here…my maiden name starts with the letter “G”, and the title of this blog has two G’s in it.  Even my dog’s name starts with G!  Are you with me?

Now take a gander at my category list.  In fact, because I love you so much, I’ll repost it here.
